I think 4:1 is about my overall ratio too. Just wish it was consistent, LOL. Some days I dig a ton of wheats and zero silvers.

I have only been detecting since the spring of 2014. I have dug 132 silvers and 642 wheats so my ratio is closer to 5 to 1

Less than two months experience for me but 22 wheats and 3 silvers so far so about 7 to 1.

Also two Indian Heads and two Canadian penny's from the wheat penny era.

About 5:1 for me but that is an average - it really depends on the site.

It varies widely, by site. I am usually around 8:1.

Last weekend... 9 silvers 14 Wheaties.

The two weeks prior... I had 24 Wheaties and ZERO silver. My face looked like this: ???

Im at a 1:1 ratio in my career...id way rather be at a 5:1 like others are saying because i only have found 1 wheat and 1 silver. I blame it on my metal detector..

My ratio is higher wheats to a silver coin. I just don't think the sites I hunt have as much to give up. I live in rural WV where they used mining scrip until the 50s. I have found barbers mercs, roses and a few Washington's, but it isn't as plentiful as some other areas of WV. Still i have found more than I thought was here. But I would say maybe 15 to 1 ratio. Just a guess.

I'm in southern WV and just increased my wheat to silver ratio today. Now 25 wheats and 3 silvers. I also think people in are area just never had it to drop in the silver coin days. What they did have was probably not lost often.
