So this detector I got from my dad. I don't have the instructions anymore and it's been sitting on my porch for a few years.

Google is showing me newer models of this brand but I cannot find this model or the instructions for it.

Thoughts?

It's not a family heirloom. I didn't pay for it, I can take take it - be honest :)

I'm not sure there's too much you can learn by obtaining the manual. Just fire it up, set the sensitivity as high as you can without too much chattering, and adjust the discrimination until it won't register on a nail any longer.
