Dream on Bill! You can get a Tesoro Sand Shark for $600.00, but it is designed as a Saltwater machine. I have found nuggets with it, but nothing under 3-grams.

That's the machine I've been looking at.
I'm confused about the coil. Can you change the coil? I read on the Tesoro site that it's "fixed" but then I saw somewhere else that you could change it.

I think the earlier machines have a removable one

Sand Sharks no longer come with changeable coils, you would have to find a used one that did. Your talking two different styles of hunting, saltwater beach and nugget prospecting, need 2 different detectors. to excel in both styles.

They have been recently discontinued, but the Garrett Infinium sounds like what you are after.

You need ground balance for prospecting, which most beach detectors don't have. And most prospecting PIs are not waterproof. I agree with the cactus, the Infinium, is the only one I can think of that has both. And you can swap coils on it, though selection is limited.
