I see the Nokta Velox is a single frequency 17.5 khz IB machine. The Velox is marketed as a wet beach /high mineralisation machine. The Macro racer 2 does quite well in the wet sand also. I understand mineralisation varies from beach to beach but what exactly is going on here? These 2 detectors seem to go where no other single frequency machines do. Can anyone explain in technical terms why they work?

Many single frequency machines will work to a certain degree.....if you detune them enough to make them stable. The problem doing that, is that depth suffers.
