I find these round pieces of lead everywhere I go and they always hit in the 50’s on the ATP/Maxx. Does anyone else get these a lot? IMG_1148.JPG

They do look like flattened bullets.

I mostly find them in parks with no structures around, but I’ll take that answer and run with it. They drive me nuts at perfect nickel signals.

I'm with the lead seal idea
BUT - are there any pin holes around the outer rim?

Sometimes there were old houses where there is a park now. If you found a bunch in close proximity, there may have been some structure there long ago.

I guess I find them very often. Often enough to aggravate me. They give off a clean 52.

Good answer, but these things look used. No two the same. That being said, where is the nail hole?

They are tin roofing nail caps. The nail head fit in the hole. When the nail was driven down onto the tin, the lead cap would form a seal around the nail to prevent leaks. I have driven several thousand of them in over the years.

That is exactly what they are. I had to find a gold wedding ring that was lost among several hundred of them near a barn and man it was brutal.

Yes! It took about 4 hours of picking through the lead but she was one happy lady. She lost it when she pulled her gloves off horseback riding and gave up looking for it for months. It was only buried under the surface but you wasn’t gonna make an eyeball find like she was trying [emoji106]
