Let me start by saying I am very hard on my equipment and I actually broke my Piranha shovel in two. I called customer service to see if they could do anything for me and they said just mail it in and they would fix it for free. I really appreciate you guys, that very good business and you have mine. Thanks again IMG_1289.JPG IMG_1544.JPG

I would add a brace on each side from a hole to the shaft

Thin as the lip metal is, am doubting braces would so much good.

Probably best to recognize that the tool has its limits and is not meant to pry up roots ect.

Yeah I just have to remember that when I’m in that manic zone.

I bent my Sampson [older step brother of the Predator], still usable.
Wasn't a root but I was prying up on a metal bar or something [it did have some give], voice in the head chimed in and told me I shouldn't be doing that but I didn't listen.
I felt some give and thought it was the bar but no, it was the shovel.
These are well made, robust tools and its tempting to think that nothing could bend them out of shape, but they do have limits which manly strength + leverage will fairly easily surpass. Any other shovel though would have been bent at a 45 with the pressure I was putting on it, I'd say it bent maybe 5 degrees .
Never tried bending it back, am fearing that may fatigue it and make it worse.

Since detecting season is drawing to a close might just holler at Lesche and see if they will tidy up my Sampson.
I will end up with a Predator, seems to be about the best on the market and I think old Lesche got a really raw deal, forced to start a new brand and banned from even using his established name on his products.

Yeah George Lesche was who told me to send it in.
