Deer ticks and Lyme disease.

It must be tick season. I always check the dogs (3) over. Mostly to pull grass burrs off. The last week or so, I have been pulling 5 or more ticks off each dog on a daily bases. Most are latched on but some crawling across their coats. Many are those very tiny deer ticks. Deer ticks are notorious for spreading Lyme disease. They are so tiny, you must find them visually as they are too small to "feel" unless they are swelled up from blood. If you have pets and seem to have an "itch" that won't quit, look for the tick. You WILL NOT feel them through your clothes while they are crawling around. I had a friend who spent much time out hunting and fishing. He died of Lyme disease. This makes me very concerned for my welfare and the welfare of my pets. Check yourself over after detecting in the woods and grass. ╦╦Ç

Here is one I took today. Very tiny indeed! He wouldn't sit still on my finger tip. This would be the common size of them. An internet pic would work better for a description though. ╦╦Ç

I had Lyme Disease back in 1983, before anybody knew what it was. I had a bulls eye on my leg. My doctor said he had no idea what it was, he had never seen anything like it before. Luckily, he gave me antibiotics. I was a spaced out zombie for a couple years, and had no energy. A few years ago I removed 9 ticks embedded on me through the summer. Am I concerned about ticks? Not at all. It comes with being out in the woods. They are here to stay and I don't complain about them.
