Hey Steve I would be happy with those finds for 3 1/2 hours. I don't know about riding that sweet bike in the winter but the cold and wind doesn't stop me from detecting plus less people. Thanks for posting your finds!!!!!!

I'm in Southern Virginia but have family in Michigan. Much colder winters there. I hitchhiked from North Carolina to Grand Rapids in January 1978 and ended up sleeping under an overpass in Ann Arbor. It was snowing so hard that you couldn't see another car 50 feet away. I was told by my first ride the next morning that the wind chill was -27 that night.

Back in the late 70s, I spent 3 to 4 months every year hitchhiking cross country. In 78, I left Greensboro NC with $3 going to Oregon. I went to Grand Rapids, did some yard work and went into Canada with $46 headed west. I lived big in Canada and got back in USA in Washington 5 days later with $1 left. I went to the Rainbow Gathering in Oregon, stayed a couple of weeks and still had my $1 when I got to Eugene. I saw a Dairy Queen and spent my dollar. I picked Cherries the next day and made $6.21. Hitched to San Francisco the next day, sold plasma for $10 and then headed to Mission Bay at San Diego. Spent a month there. The day before I left, I sold plasma for $10, bought two joints for $2, went to zoo for $5. I left the next morning at 7am with $3 and was eating breakfast at a friends house in Winston Salem NC 72 hours later. Good Old Days!
