I have to pull my sand scoop behind me when detecting on the beach otherwise my detector falses because of the scoop. When I get a beep every other step I know I have to drag the scoop behind me.

I left my pin pointer in the woods once and took hours to find it.. Found it right next to a spent shot gun shell

The 1st time I took my brother-in-law detecting, he had a hard time finding his target once he dug the plug, every handful of dirt gave a mid-tone signal and after I watched a while I began to laugh out loud. He began to get frustrated. I asked him to take his wedding ring off. That solve the problem.

I left my pinpointer at the beach at a club dig. We got it back two months later, one of the guys found it and returned it. I sent it back to the manufacturer and they fixed it.

I like wearing my one ring, then sifting dirt in that hand. LOL

Pretty funny.

There's a fellow on the Yamashita treasure legend section , who has dug a pit to some incredible depth of 60 ft. or whatever. And his starting genesis was getting a signal from 2 different varieties of metal detectors. I questioned him as to whether or not it's possible that he was simply operating the machine wrong. Or the signal came from something else, etc...... But to no avail: .... Just like in your cartoon, there's no stopping him. It means " certain treasure". With no possible other explanation at play. haha

Yep, before the days of hand held pin pointers, we would scoop a handful of dirt and pass it over the coil. On more then one occasion, I had forgotten to remove my watch. lol
