We had a big meteor come down in Michigan a little over a week ago. I saw a big white flash and wasn't sure what it was then heard a loud boom about a minute later that rattled the windows. Turns it out it landed about 10 miles west of my house. A couple of meteorites were found on a nearby frozen lake so I took my boys and dog out for a look last weekend when there was still snow cover.

There is a bike path that runs by the lake so I figured that would have as much chance of finding one as anywhere else nearby. It was a nice day for walk and the boys had my pro pointer to check potential meteorites, but no luck.

I'll be keeping my eye out whenever I ride the path in the future - you never know.
