Noob here... question about using a bounty hunter around water.

I was reading posts about waterproof detectors and have a question. I recently got a bounty hunter t4, I know it’s not waterproof but I saw someone mention a “ knee deeper”. If I was at the beach or near a small water feature, would it be a problem to put the coil into the water? I read somewhere that part is waterproof...

Don't DROP It! Once the box hits the water, It is time to buy another detector.

Won't work well in Saltwater, or on wet saltwater sand. In the old days we wrapped the whole detector in large plastic leaf bags to do creeks and rivers.
