What countries pay you for your md finds?

i heard the uk pays you a percentage for your finds, i heard romania does as well. What other countries pay the detectorist a percentage?

Why would you need for the IRS to give a percentage of what you found?

i would have to sell on black market and the risks involved, seems easier to sell to government. in my country people were arrested for selling old roman coins. i think the safest way to sell where i'm at would be on an onion site with tor browser and accepting bitcoin payment

Answer is simple, sell your Roman coins you find outside the country. The Roman coins do not have RFID imbedded in them so you can put them in a nice leather pouch in your front pocket and go on vacation to a country that would love to buy them from you.

If you find them after 1000+ years they are yours in my humble opinion.unless they are a national treasure for the museum so that future generations can observe. Pleanty of Roman coins in the world.

Erte, I can't speak to specifics in Croatia, or the difficulty of selling goodies there. But : Trust me, you DO NOT WANT to have a government that "buys your finds". What you read about for Britain is highly mis-understood. Too many people in other countries thinks this is some sort of cool hand-holding love-affair between md'rs, archies, and the govt. But : It is much better if the govt. did NOT have their meddling hands into it. And stop and figure: the crown of Britain owns all the natural resources under the ground.

If there is buying and selling of old stuff in your country (antique shops, coin-dealers, etc...) why can't you just sell these "family heirlooms" that got passed down to you through the family lineage ? Is anyone in your country doing ebay sales ? If so, don't any of these outgoing packages cross country lines ? I find it impossible to believe that someone in Croatia can't find some easy safe way to sell an old coin. Coin collecting IN EVERY COUNTRY ON EARTH is an age-old hobby.

Bingo. My brother in law is a native of France & Italy. He and I have had long talks about him taking me back to his home country to be my guide/translator. And I specifically asked him about the various former soviet satellite state countries to the east of him. Eg.: what's involved at crossing the borders, etc.... He said that to the extent there's border checkpoints, it's for drugs, weapons, etc.... No one's going through the underwear compartment of your suitcase, or inspecting the contents of your toothpaste tube, etc..... But otherwise: Tourists and commerce comes and goes all the time across the borders.

England will buy your finds only if they want them for museum or cultural reasons. Otherwise, you get to keep them. The government does inspect the items before releasing them however, so, it can take a few months to get your finds.

thanks for the replies, i was thinking of selling on ebay or coin shops if i find any. The weather is getting better i'll be starting detecting soon and i'll post my finds
