Sword belt plate

My buddy dug this sword belt plate a few days ago in NE Texas. Is this a legit belt plate? Neither of us know much about them. Thanks for any info!

Yes. It was dug a couple days ago on a city owned lot. Not by me (unfortunately), but a friend.

I looked at those on Google earlier. The one thing I noticed was that the loop is off the end. The one my buddy dug has the loop underneath one end. We dont know enough about them to determine if its real or re-enactor piece. Thanks!

If that belt is authentic,, it certainly has a lot of detail left under that crud. Try to post some pictures after you clean it up.
