Upon doing some research tonight for some sites to hunt, I came across a few old parks in my city from the early 1900's that have been built over. This one in particular. It was the site of a public swimming pool and fairgrounds circa 1920. Now sits a printing factor. Has anyone else felt a bit uneasy after discovering such a great place? Frustration is common for me, especially in this hotbed of rebellion, South Carolina. There is a point of land here that used to hold a fort looking over Winyah Bay. It saw action during the Revolution, and Civil War, was built, destroyed, rebuilt, destroyed, on and on. The civic leaders have designated it a park, and labeled it "Historically Significant." Those two words, under state law make it off limits to recreational metal detecting. It's undeveloped, just lying there, ripe and juicy.
