If anyone has seen this markers mark I’d appreciate the info I’ve searched some pics but can find that one of course. Thanks for looking.

Sargent & Co. smokehouse padlock. While Sargent was around just before the CW.....this lock isn't. As far as a RR or strongbox lock....no also I'm afraid. These smokies are made of basically a thin gauge metal, no where near strong enough to do much else than keep honest people honest. Once in a while a lightweight lock will turn up as being marked as a RR lock, but not very often and was probably used in an office or warehouse lockup or some such. Sorry.

Don’t be sorry I still love it and it’s mine. Thank you for the information.

P.S. While I have you here can you tell me what you might know about this lock? I found at a 1820’s house. And once again thank you for your experience and time lockster99. IMG_0012.JPG

YW. This lock is obviously British. GR...George Rex would be the King. However, I don't collect foreign locks at all. Looks like he ruled until 1839.....hmmm. Seems a little early but maybe not. That design was around for a very long time. Sooooo....guess not much help here.

Well I do appreciate the effort. Thank you lockster I’m beginning to develop a love for old locks.
