About the size of a large cent...I was thinking either also a chain cent or a Fugio.

Try taking a rubbing. It may bring out details that are almost impossible to see.

Found in a swamp eh..... Interesting.

What did you do to clean it.

is it magnetic by chance?

You think its copper or bronze?

What does the edge look like?

That coin could be it. Something else to consider, South Carolina was settled early and of course pirates were there! Ar har! It could be a late medieval token or jetton. Mainly made of brass, they circulated well into the 18th century.

OOoohh ooohh, I know , I know. It's commonly known as a "Washington Quarter". Now how difficult was that, eh ? Nice find. How deep was it ? :laughing7:

You’d think people would’ve stopped using coins for reference to avoid these types of things happening...:laughing7:

I didn’t clean it came out like this. Which is wild In the salt. Not magnetic it’s super thin on edge similar to a hammered “Not saying it is a hammerd” maybe copper or bronze not sure but copper eats up badly here like this large cent 09FAF38B-A655-4A14-B898-ECC1EF655FB3.jpeg

Been going in a lot of different angles thanks I’ll look at jetons!

I’m going to go with a Wreath Cent (which would be sweet find!) More likely would be a Liberty Cap. Either way a great find!

Well if you have my luck, you found yourself a heavily corroded Chuck E Cheese token.
