Garrett ATpro Head broke off shaft,,, they dont spare parts

So the head broke off the shaft during a shipping mishap with USPS, just talked to Garrett and they wont send me a new head cover they dont spare parts and said they will do the repair, they need my serial number and will go from their (don't currently have the serial number since im at work).... Any of you guys had a similar experience?

The head meaning the coil or control box.

I do have some spare parts for tha AT a few shafts ect ,and I know a company that makes a piece that fits over the shaft to give extra strength to the control box mount.

The control box snapped off the shaft.... It happened while being shipped was supersized to hear it, Iv seen that detector take some hard hits...

That happened to mine also I had to use some bigger screws to get it back on then no problems. Here is a link hope it works I found this and got one its extra support just in case. I got the 6 screw one worked awesome they are a little pricey but I felt better having it. Tommy

Thanks Tommy!! Ill be keeping this machine now since I had regretted selling it and got it back, Ill see what Garrett has to say, will pry do my own fix on it and maybe use the piece from shapways...

IMHO: Send it back to Garrett for repair.

Try a DIY repair.
If you send to Garrett and it is not warrantied:
Shipping $15.00-$20.00
Flat rate labor. On my MarkII it was $40.00.
Parts charge for repair parts $20.00-$40.00 more or less depending on what's broke.
You'll have at least $75.00 in cost to send back and have repaired.
Spoke with Garrett 4 days ago, there were at 2 week turnaround.
If you are not happy with your DIY repair, you can always send it back to Garrett.
I would try DIY first.

My AT Gold did the same thing.
Removed the plastic extensions from the screws.
Applied two part one minute epoxy to the plastic extensions back onto the head.
Installed same thread screw just one or two sizes longer.
Installed those screws to secure the extensions onto the head.
Removed screws after 24 hours. Held plastic extensions with pliers to prevent bond from breaking.
Reinstalled head onto the pole.
Has worked fine for two years now.
I am more tender with it now.
