I have heard of hunts where coins are buried just for the hunt. I was wondering has anyone heard of a hunt where they bury certifided slabed coins (or maybe a couple so a few people could walk away winners). That would be cool.

No if they are going to give that level of prize away they usually bury tokens and you trade the token in for the prize. You wouldn't want a valuable coin burried under any circumstance.

At some of these hunts some silver coins are buried in plastic holders but the coins aren't collectors quality. You also get painted pennies (tokens) that are redeemed for certain prizes. These hunts can be a lot of fun and some manufactures attend them to show off the new detectors and dealers also have sales during the hunts too. Not all the buried coins are found.
