I have unearthed from my yard a 3mm long grey rock that sets off the detector and the pinpointer, a magnet won't stick to it, a continuity test reveals that it is non-conductive, and it does not scratch with a screwdriver. Under 30x magnification a cluster of four and Invidia small, less than a 1/4 mm, silvery balls can be seen as can quartz crystals (I think it is granite). The only thing I can think of is solder balls from electrical work when the house was built. I am using a Bounty Hunter IV with controls set to 1/2 power discrimination and tone. I have found a plastic action figure by detecting the metal pins in its joints so the MD does find very small pieces of metal.

Anyone have any ideas?
