Found item 1890 - 1920 homestead
Research found that it was an aluminum hinged lid, yet it bench testing
Was range 95+. Other aluminum items are testing
in the range 75 - 84. Aluminum foil test at 40ish
Which seems more in line.
Could the item at 95+ be truly silver, or is my Garrett Ace 400
out of calibration?

When it comes to I.D. numbers, size matters. Aluminum can read from just above iron to the end of the silver scale....unfortunately. The larger/thicker the chunk is, the higher it will read.
