Found in NC, any ideas?

New guy here..

So I grabbed my father in-laws detector today and went out searching. Detector beeped silver so i dug it up really cool! What is it? Help!

I can’t find any reign guides that look remotely close to this. The piece is much smaller than a reign guide. A little bigger than my thumb. Very perplexing.

Kinda looks a tad small for a reins guide to me. Could be. I'm thinking the top of an old lantern or lamp.

I cleaned it up a bit with a tooth pick. The hoop part clearly has some decretive cuts around the rim. The hoop does appear to have wear on thin side.

The button part has some heavy rope or twine inside.. Two holes go in from both sides
