I am new to all of this, so I restricted my kids to metal detecting in the backyard. They already found an old axe. I have spent hours looking for more info and thought maybe someone here could help IMG_20200127_192815.jpg IMG_20200127_192829.jpg

actually not a splitting axe, any splitting axes or mauls were thicker. this in my mind is a felling axe or something along those lines. Hey I could be wrong though

Yes the splitting mauls are thicker on both the splitting end and the heavy end for power in splitting sawed firewood, but these were more used more for kindling or small burning wood....or so my dad told me. Don't know.

Might wanna knock some rust off with a wire brush and soap and water.

Would like to see that "eye" better... with better pics.
