Anyone have any words of wisdom? I am doing it myself and use to do electric trouble shooting on toyotas so The only thing worrisome is making sure she is water proof again. I do dive with her to 100 ft occasionally and regularly around 10 to 30 ft. My excal was changing tone like crazy and I found that the 4 wires in the cable to the coil had numerous cracks in the 4 wires going to the coil. There must have been a hole in the covering as well because there was just a bit of wetness in the cable.

I like the stock coils but Like you have found out they can be rather problematic. It's really not that hard to install a coil but if you dive I would almost go the route of sending it in to Minelab. If you do decide to do it yourself ask. Many here can help.

This is for starters...First will show how to break the xcalibur down..
