I don't remember...back when i first started detecting, silver was still pretty common in change. My first old piece of silver was an 1896-O Half dollar.

That's a really nice looking spoon.....congrats. I certainly do remember my first piece of silver. I dug a 1942 Mercury dime across the street from the high school I attended back in the 1960's. I found the dime with my new White's 6000di in 1984.

Same here. When I started in 1970 silver was very common to find with a detector. My first was just a 1963 quarter, and I found 12 more on that first hunt at the beach.....along with at least that many silver dimes. Half of all my finds in those early years were silver and wheats.
