Magnet Fishing Find

Found this magnet fishing near railroad track in Neuse River. City was also active in Revolutionary and Civil Wars. I assume it’s lead. It was caked in what I believe was over 100 years+ of rust. It weighs a ton (don’t have a scale). It’s 2” tall and 2.55” in diameter. When cleaned up, it glows of lead and is highly magnetic. I have no clue what it is or what it was used for. No evidence of fuse present, but I was hoping that it was some kind of “projectile bolt” aimed to sink a ship broadside. Could it have been used as a railroad/train part? Thanks for help with identifying my big heavy booger!

yeah near downtown NB is a tough place to magnet fish as there were many boat industry's and lots of metal in that area. good luck
