    Any idea what this is?

Found this metal detecting an early 19th homestead- now a corn field -
Any ideas as to what it is?
    Thanks!

I bet, when you clean it off, it turns out to be a lift handle for a wood stove. For lifting the cooking plate from the stove.

Next time... AND / OR this time...

Clean it... add observations and close up pictures... possible or factual composition... and include a size reference.

As to aid in your quest for a factual identification.
