Found a 1974 Proof Quarter in Pocket Change from Costco

Went to Costco to stock up on food... came home and found this in my change from them.

Never happened to me before in my life. That coin is almost 50 years old either someone spent their collection as real money (doubtful) or maybe a kid robbed his parents collection. That coin was in an air tight container for 46 years and only recently has seen circulation.

Makes me a little sad to think that people might be having to spend their coin collections; tough times. Let's hope it's like you suspect: that a kid didn't know what he was doing when he took it from dad/mom.
