I found this Ottoman 1 Kurush in the local woods earlier this year. It weighs about 1.2 grams, a little under a half dime. This variety was minted in the 1860s. It’s interesting to imagine how it got all the way to the Eastern US.

1780 Spanish Colonial, I believe this is a 1/2 reale. I found this hunting an old baseball field used by a local semi-pro team back in the 20's. Now it's just a hole in the woods with an access lane. Sorry if these post sideways lol, I never know.

Smallest silver...I have some old Canadian fish scale nickels also. Found 4 so far, all with the AT pro and 2 tiny sterling medallions. The religious one opens up and has a gem stone on the bottom. ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1611860686.251648.jpg

hard to beat
clipped cob - if you took a 1/2 reale and clipped off the round edges
its known as a "short bit" and you could buy a pint of grog with it

So you think it beats my 1/4 real?
very close - it probably is size of the star on the 3 center -
will tell you - thank God for pinpointer - it was completely black
and found in farm field just after thaw so it was very muddy
i had just gotten my Garrett pinpointer (the black model) yrs ago
and chased it around a little with machines pinpointer - thought i might have a piece
of lead shot - pulled pin pointer out and bingo - but just thought it was a piece of junk
got back to car and showed my buddy what i had been chasing around - then i saw the cross
i have found spanish silver before - even some cut but never like this
on it - not valuable but nice conversation piece

I was doing some research long ago and came across some pages from early 1700s journal
and it had going rates (mostly with Indians) for items
it said what they would give the Indians for stuff and what they would ask them for other items
it wasnt all trade like people think - we started giving them coins and them getting them back
and of course early settlers screwed them back then too
one entry was
sold Indian one musket - then repaired musket... right after - probably flint fell out and seller charged arm and a leg for another
one spot it had 4 apples for a KG - so I guess you could get one for 1/4

Ah Casper that’s a nice piece yeah you got a watch and I’ve gotten some silver which was black as the ace of spades I don’t even know what it was until I got home. That’s funny story I found what looks like a piece of pewter or something nothing on the front some weird lump on the back. One day I was bored and had nothing to do I just looked through my “weird pile” that I keep in coffee coffee container and I was looking at it and for whatever reason I took some nose grease and wiped it on the front and like magic I saw the script I

Hey Casper is that journal available online by any chance? It would be a very interesting read I think.

P.S. My smallest silver is an 1853 Trime.
