Hi,

I highly recommend you buy this detector. I have one and have owned it for several years. It looks like the detector in the picture is newer than mine because it has a blue headset and mine is black..

This detector will pick up Gold necklaces, bracelets and of course gold and silver rings. Also real good for coins. I suggest that if you buy this detector, buy the larger coil for it. For some reason I could never get the original coil to work right for me. The original coil was always noisy and I could never use it. I bought the larger coil and bingo, rings, necklaces you name I've found with this detector.

I have stood by guys in the water and pulled up necklaces that their high dollar detectors wouldn't even give a signal on.

Good Luck, I'm sending along a picture of my finds from this past summer. All the finds were from using the Tesoro Tiger Shark detector. I found all of these items in a two week period while my wife and I were on vacation.

P.S. About the price, sounds good to me, this is a $800 machine. See if he has a water scoop for it also, you will need it to get the items out of the water. Also a good pair of water shoes are a must. For cold water you might think about a wet suit.

By the way, I hope your thinking of using this detector for water or beach hunting. If not, I'd look at a Garrett ACE 250 for an all around detector. With this good land detector, last year I found over 4000 clad coins and over 100 Indian Head pennies and over 200 wheaties, many silver coins, watch fobs, tokens and even a 6 pound cannonball. If you want some pictures of my finds with the ACE 250, let me know i'll send them.

Not sure what "high dollar detectors" you mean, but my Excal gave a nice solid tone on just the lobster claw with an eyelet from a gold necklace in the surf.

With that said, I have heard good reports on the Tiger and at that price I would grab it myself. ;D

Yep the Minelab was one of them and another one was a Fisher 1280. Of course the bracelet and necklaces I found didn't have anything on them, they were just plain Gold.

I used to have a Minelab Excailbur, but got to heavy for me. I'm 60 yrs. young and the weight was just to much, even after I hipmounted it. I have several friends who still hunt with the Excalibur with good success. But for $200 or $300 dollars for a Tiger Shark, that ain't bad.

Best of luck to you with what ever detector your using.

HH, Ringfinder

P.S. I think maybe the new Minelab's are better than the one I had. I had one of the first ones that came out many years ago. By the way, my finds were found a few years ago, so the newer Minelab's might do much better than the older ones.

I will be 60 on my next one. ;) I use a harness and it really helps with the weight.

If I had access to the Tiger for $300 I would be very tempted to grab it myself, well worth that price.

Good luck and good hunting........

Hey Congrats on the Big 60, this hobby keeps a guy young. Where are you hunting in March? Also where did you get the little guys at the bottom of your page? They are neat.

HH, Ringfinder

P.S.
I usually use the ACE 250 for my land hunting now and use my Tiger Shark for my water hunting. I also have a Whites XLT, Minelab Soverign, DepthPro Headhunter, Fisher 1235 and of course the ACE 250 with a SunRay probe.

Ringfinder,

I was wrong on the date, it;s April 25-27 2008 they have the 6th annual Great Southern Beach Shootout at Daytona Beach. I went last year, had a fantastic time and plan on going again this year. I even applied in October for the 25th as a day of vacation, just to be sure I was off. I'm going there early on Friday and spend the whole weekend there. It cost $200 to enter, they have 6 seeded hunts and one kids hunt over the three day event.

The little guys at the bottom I found by doing a search "pirate animated gif" and "metal detecter animated gif" but if you want copy, I will trade you them for your 1235 x....LOL

IM me your email address and I will send copies to you. I

jp777casino,

The TS is a super detector for water hunting. The price sounds good on the TS. I am a little concerned about this being your "first detector" though. Usually newcomers to this hobby do not start off in water hunting. Water hunting is a little tricky, you need some specialized gear and it's difficult metal detecting at best. I'm a Tesoro dealer and use the TS for all my water hunting (over 100 hrs. this past season). You could start off by using the TS on land / beach and work your way up to going out in the water? give me some feedback here on the forum or PM me if you like. Joe

Joe is the authority on the TS, very knowledgeable. I got my TS on ebay, like new for $465, so the price sounds right. Enjoy it and good luck.

Re: HOW GOOD IS A Testoro Tiger shark(THINKING OF BUYING)

Yes the Tiger Shark is a fine beach and water detector and at that price I'd buy it. I haven't used the TS much on grass for coins, but it is very good in the water as others have stated. It is true about it finding thin gold chains where many others don't make a sound on them even with scraping the coil on the chain. Take note that this kind of sensitivity can also find bird shot, something that is easy to recognize by the sound after awhile. It is also easy to hip mount as this also cuts down on water resistance moving it back and forth.

If you are going to do beach and water detecting, I suggest you visit this site http://thegoldenolde.com/

Good Luck,
Sandman

I've looked into the Tiger Shark, and I was very impressed. (never used one, though). I have read that the Tiger Shark does not work well on Massachusetts beaches. Is this just propaganda, or what? (I live in Mass.)

Massbaycolonist,

Where and what did you read concerning the TS on Mass. beaches? We need some details. Joe

Re: HOW GOOD IS A Testoro Tiger shark(THINKING OF BUYING)

The reports of the Tiger not doing well on the Mass. beaches needs clarification. If they used it right at the waters edge they could be running into black sand and saltwater at the same time. Also many hunters turn up the sensitivity to high and wonder why it acts up and blame the detector.

Good Luck,
Sandman
