Little far for me - but I can tell you the BEST place to practice is in your own yard. Find/make a patch of ground free of any metal and bury some known objects. A quarter at 6" and 12", dimes, nickels, cents, even nails and trash. Mark them with colored golf tees pushed in almost flush and DRAW A MAP.

Then, practice over these items. Try different detector settings, practice sweeping in an "X" pattern to pin-point them, etc. Invaluable in helping you earn how your detector works.

I'm in the area, but my season is done for me till next January after deer season. Stay away from the NPS and city parks.
