Ok folks, as many of you know I do a lot of photography and from what I'm seeing with these new AI (artificial intelligence) applications, I'm really starting to believe that we will start seeing metal detectors with 3D capabilities (at least on shallow targets) within my lifetime. But honestly, I don't know that I want it as it seems to my that a great deal of the anticipation and mystery will also go out the window right along with it. Your thoughts? :dontknow:

I would love to have a detector that shows accurate shapes. Some areas which are currently virtually unhuntable would come to life if you could eliminate digging foil, pull tabs, and bottle caps.

Something that can definitely show the difference between a coin, bottle cap, and a ring?

Nokta has one thats $5k bucks. I think Garrett has one too. Just Google 3D Image Metal detector and you can see it. Waaay out of my budget. I like the surprises that come out of the ground.

If I needed to spend 5K to not dig that rusty bottle cap that sounds so sweet, I'll go with the latter.

I would not care for a detector like that. I like the mystique of digging and finding the item in that clump of dirt. For me, part of the hobby is being outside and enjoying my time in the woods, not identifying an item first, just to save time digging it.
