Between direct deposit and bank cards, the only time I feel money is when we dig it up! :laughing7:. I hope to someday find a Morgan!!

Oh yeah. That's a real coin.

I've never found one in the dirt, either. But Dad (b. 1912) left behind a bunch of them. I don't think they were widely carried - mostly held by banks as silver certificate back-ups in the days currency had more than pretend value.

I was lucky enough to detect these in one cache. That was in my Top Four metal detecting achievements since I started the hobby in earnest early October,1976. I'll never forget - or enjoy going through it again in my mind, what a day!:skullflag:

I have never found one metal detecting but I did find one when I was in 4th grade running into the art room during after school program.

I was first through the door and ran in and saw it on the ground and snatched it up I had no idea what it was it was just extremely shiny and heavy. Come to find out it was a brand new Morgan ( at the time).

The next day I went to lost and found and asked if anybody had come in looking for anything.

Nobody came in all week. They kept asking me what I found but I knew if I told him they would want to keep it.

Daddy didn’t raise no fool!

I said “ if someone comes in and asks and it’s what I found I would be happy to return it.” And left it at that.

That coin got me started in collecting and hunting treasure!!! I still have that coin!!!!

I lucked into digging one from a football field along with a class ring on Christmas eve day back in 2016. For some reason I had Morgan fever all of 2016 and my prayers were answered.
