I decided to do a little air testing today & was suprised by some of the results . I couldn't get a beep at all on a penny in program 3 but I have found many pennies while detecting in this program . I also expected to get quite a bit more depth on a quarter than I did on a dime & a penney . The testing was done with new batteries & max sensitivity . Didn't use headphones & all results are solid repeatable signals . Very unprofessional test with coins taped to wooden ruler . I also noticed that if I moved the coin really quickley across the coil I could get another inch or so in depth but these results do not reflect doing that .
First test no disc .
Quarter Max 10 Tone of beep changed at 8
Nickel Max 9 No change in tone
Dime Max 9 Tone changed at 6
Penney Max 10 Tone changed at

Test # 2 Program P1 Iron / Foil Disc Out

Nickel Max 6 No tone change
Dime Max 9 Tone change at 6

Nickel Max 5 No tone change
Dime Max 7 Tone changed at 6

Regarding the pennies, keep in mind that you basically have two pennies to deal with, the newer zinc ones which might not be included in your program or vice versa and the older copper ones, ditto on the program and vice versa. The air test results sound right........and remember, nothing about an air test will account for ground conditions.

Yeah, the zinc pennies show up around screwcaps, so you got no response on #4. Use a copper penny which will show up around a dime.
