MDing near Niagara Falls

Well, I just got back from a spring break vacation to upstate NY visiting family. I hoped to do some MDing there but a snow storm dumped 6-12 in of snow the day before we got there. Luckily after 2 days most was gone and I could not wait to get out and try my luck. I did some metal detecting around an old fair grounds new Batavia, NY and some near the Niagara Falls. I found some great coins to add to my collection. Nothing super old but still some cool coins. Down fall is my digital camera is now on the blink so as soon as I get the thing fixed I will get some pictures up as soon as I can. In the mix of what I found are a lot of Canadian and US coins.
2- BI centennial quarters
1- 1908 Indian head cent
Several Canadian pennies, oldest being a 1940
3- Canadian loonies
4- Canadian Toonies
1 Silver 1962 US quater
and lots of just plan old clad
For two days of Hunting it's been my best hall yet.

This might seem like a silly question, but does your friend really have a camera that cleans coins? Great site! Great finds! Happy Hunting!

Bowman,, it didn't take much for you to delete the audio on your page ,you must have been already thinking about removing it. I really think its better without it.

I went back and looked,,Very nice. Is it new ? Do you ever get any calls on lost items? I have built a few web sites ,one is my own.Niether have anything to do with MDing.I was thinking about adding a page offering recovery of lost items in my area.In my case I would not want money for the return of a lost item.I would be happy with a new place to MD in return.Ya know what I mean?

Yes the site and club are both new. As for recovering lost Items. I will charge depending on what it is. My truck is a gas hog and if I have to drive cross county. It takes gas and time. I have not yet met a repairman that comes to your house to fix something, do it for free. It just depends on the circumstances. A set of lost keys at the park down the street is one thing. Drive 20-30 miles to find property markers to save some one paying a surveyor. That I wont do for free. To each his own. Thats what makes the world go around :D

This comes into play also.good MD site is far pay a lot of times.
The last call I got was for finding some property markers. I drove almost 70 miles round trip. Charged $20.00 to find four markers

20$ that is not enough,,for a drive that long. And you found all 4.

A friend of mine called me 2 weeks ago.He had been looking for 1 property marker for over a year(2 acres back in the woods ).Come to find out ,,he bought a MD from radio shack to find this 1 marker. With no luck.

I went there last weekend ,took about an hour, but I found it.It was a tuff bugger to find. 3 " of dead leaves .It was in a "V" of a big tree that had fell, about 2 " from being under the downfall.

My point is ,he now has a $140 metal detecter that he will most likey never use again.Had I known I could have saved him this cost. After all this he was happy as a pig in mud.

I didn't mean to imply that it not a service, worth payment.<It definitely is>.What form the payment is in ,,,,well it doesn't matter as long as your happy with it.
Good luck with your new Club.

Bowman nice coins and nice site! I especially like the fade effect on the pics. That's cool.
About the house you found.I'm not sure I caught why the land owner wouldn't let you hunt it? Looks like primo hunting. How about open fields near the house?Large trees, etc?

Its a old general store, from the Civil war days that servered all the people that worked on the plantation their. The plantation house is no longer there, but it was used a by the CSA and the surounding area was a large camp for a long period of time. As for why I have to wait. Its turckey season here and a club has this land leased for hunting. So I'm chomping at the bit to get to this land. Tons of open fileds with large oaks all around. A++++++ spot.
