Hey Guys!

Hey Guys, Thanks for the advice! Some of you on treasurenet are too funny :lol:


I am serious about this dating thing. I also am serious about metal detecting and baseball cards, which most of you think I should be discreet about--should I really?


Catie and I agreed on going to an up-scale restaurant called Cedar Hollow Inn located in suburban Pennsylvania. Is it too soon to be taking her to a place that serves filet mignon or should I stick with what I already know (McDonald's Extra Value Meal)?


By the way, there will be no more Super Size menu starting in 2005 at McDonald's :cry: But anyway, is second base the average for a second date or should I just let things happen naturally? Should I eventually share my interests with her--baseball card shows and metal detecting in large abandoned acres of land--or isn't that romantic?

just relax get to know eachother
girls like to take it slow, shell let you know when she wants to pick up the pace so for now just have fun and good conversation
usally things will just fall in to place, they usally get messed up when you try to stear it towards a certain direction
as for detecting and baseball cards , dont worry ,if shes into you she wont care what hobbies intrest you
my girlfriend thought i was weird for wanting to metal detect
but i showed her what people were finding and explained more about it and now she goes and digs for me

Find the ring you lost and a few more besides, and she'll be yours for life! :lol:

She could see that I was passionate about my hobby and became even more attracted to me (women like passion) and she got to know the real me right from the start.

Actually, I think you guys need to stop detecting and collecting cards so much and spend some time socializing with real people. Your on the right track though. Just be yourself and let things happen naturally. Don't worry about second base or a homerun until she is ready. Believe me, she will drop subtle hints when it's time. If you don't pick up on them she'll find someone who will...

Be frank and honest. If you like her, tell her so. It is the unspoken word that hurts most sometimes...

Get into her head, not into her bed. Just keep saying this to yourself. Women need to know they are the #1 priority, so if you like baseball cards, and detecting, don't be making babies. Remember! "No glove, no Love!". My suggestion would be to make absolutely sure you do alot of detecting and baseball card shows, etc. right up front. That way, she can't tell you she didn't realize you spent so much time swinging that detector or looking at your cards. Keep your hobbies, but encourage her to spend plenty of time with her friends without you right by her side. Your relationship will be stronger if you can have time away to do your thing and you can convince her that your not hanging out in the local t**ty bar (once you become old enough to). She can keep her friends that way too without feeling threatened to abandon them in favor of spending more time with you (ie: less time to detect). But when you hang out together concentrate on having fun with her and not talking so much about your hobbies, there's plenty of time for that. Just remember, make babies and your out of the game for a while. You'll be spending all your time making $ instead to support a family instead of buying new detectors and baseball cards. Hope my advice helps, been there done that. 8)

Hey Everyone, Thanks for the great advice, as you guys seem to know how to charm the pants off of your partners

Here's what happened...


Saturday Night 5 PM-
Catie hasn't called me yet after telling me that she'd call me "around 3, 4 at the latest." I was pissed off to say the least, so I called her with a chip on my shoulder and she could sense it in my voice. I told her how angry I was that she didn't call me earlier, especially because she promised. Am I wrong for thinking this way? She had no valid excuse, but I didn't want it to ruin the evening I planned with my Catie, so I dropped the subject and made reservations to a place called Cedar Hollow Inn (where they serve filet mignon, folks)!

7:15 PM Saturday night-
Okay, I'm getting angry, nervous, and desperate at the same time. Catie was supposed to meet me there at Cedar Hollow at 7, and she's late. Am I wrong for getting upset--is this normal for girls to be late like this? Well, she pulls in the parking lot and I try to forget about her tardiness, but I can't. However, on the outside, I am as charming as a prince.

We share an enchanted kiss outside on a night with perfect weather right off the bat! Catie looks gorgeous and I look "dressed to the 9s". We go hand in hand into the restaurant, the first time I held a girl's hand in my life (pretty sad, huh)?

The conversation was awesome during the appatizers (steams clams) and dinner (steak, chicken, and lasagne). Yeah folks, the clams weren't the only things that were steaming She also had some drinks (three SKYYs) while I only had half of one glass of California Chardonnay. She was acting all buzzed as we went to Baskin Robbin's for some late-night custard! We shared a bubble gum cone in my ride and made out for hours until I finally said, "Can I ____" (Third base). She said yes, as we both made it to third--my first time ever!!! Ahhh, the great memories I now have in the Baskin Robbin's parking lot!!!


I dropped her off when she was completely sober to her car, gave her a brief goodnight kiss, and drove off with a smile on my face the size of Wisconsin


Now here's the problem...

Today, we talked about how I am still angry at her for being late and having no excuse and also lying to me about the times she calls me (she's not a punctual person). Am I wrong for being angry at her? Can I change her to be on-time or am I making a big deal out of nothing?


Saturday is on the rocks, as I'm not too sure that Catie's "the one" I want to lose my virginity to. What do you think?

I have been watching this thread and lmao on some of the replies.Are you sure you aren't pulling our legs ,on this, from the start. A 24 year old male virgin worried about losing his virginity. lol I didn't know that was possible.

My girl won't let me go on dates,,lol.But when I met her I did not put as much though into it as you are.Just thought of it as ,,us going out to have some fun.My advice is to go for it,,get it. If it don't work out you won't have to worry about losing your virginity with the next girl.But it seems you are doing ok.I have to ask,,,is she a virgin and does she know you are a virgin?

As far as her being late,she knows you were not happy about it right? Forget it for now and go out with her again.She may be nervous about the date thing also. My girl friend always says "better late than pregnant".

sounds like it was a decent date, but you are overreacting a bit with her being late. As I said earlier, *don't worry about it* <----that applies to all things involved with dating. Late? So what, alot of women are a little late sometimes, she was probably busy getting all dressed up to go out, and most people usually don't time their phone calls down to the minute. Don't get mad over nothing, that is a bad way to start anything, besides, give her a break, you barely know her. As far as her being "the one" goes, again, don't worry about it, if it happens it happens. In a few years, you may be worrying about who is going the be #15 or so. Again I would advise extreme caution as far as third base and home plate are concerned go, but you seem to be set on that, so be CAREFUL. You know what I mean... ****Dating should be fun, not stressfull****

I agree with MDnoob, chill abit on her tardiness. For you to get angry shows that you are too tense about this whole thing. Chicks like it when your layed back and in control (of yourself, not them). It might turn her off if she thinks your waiting by the phone, looking at the clock every minute, instead of casually doing your own thing until she calls, knowing everything is going to work out for the best.

Hey dude,
I can relate somewhat as I was very shy when I was younger and very nervous around girls. One thing it took me years to learn to control was my jealousy over what I perceived to be happening in my mind (the operative word here is "perceived"). I can totally relate to your being mad at waiting and then feeling like she was inconsiderate for not showing up on time. I waited for a date at my house and the girl never did show up, so of course, in my free time, I drank the bottle of wine that I had gotten for the both of us and then called her to ask her why she didn't show up. When you get old enough to drink (if you are), the #1 rule I would give you is to NEVER, EVER call a girl when you have been drinking. You may want to, but take it from my experience, it will just get you in deeper trouble or make you lose her altogether.
I know, you figure if she thinks I'm worth it she would be on time. Once again you're beating yourself up. Try this if you keep on going out with her. When you get an invite to her place or to go out with her, be slightly late and see how she takes it. If she's ok with it then take that as a clue that unless she specifies it is a "hard/solid time to be there" then be casually late on a regular basis. If she even senses you are taking offense to her not being on time, she'll probably seek out someone else who doesn't care so much about that kind of stuff.
You need to develop a little bit of her attitude, which, if I am seeing it right is that she's going to get what she can from you and then spit you out. Be nice, but draw your line and stick to it. You'll have alot more respect for yourself as you grow up if you stick to your guns. If your looking for a girl that will show you some respect, then try another one and another and another. There something to be said for the numbers game. It's like coinshooting, if you pick up enough coins, sooner or later your going to get a good one! 8)

We all have our highs!! And not all girls are turned off to metal detecting and cars. I personally have been married for almost 20 yrs love old cars, which by the way I own a 1965 mustang gt fastback as well as attend the local car shows and am active in our club. As far as metal detecting I am a pretty serious detectorist even more so than my husband, which if he doesn't get a decient target in 1 hr he quits. :cry: I on the other hand will detect all day with the anticipation of of that next coin or relic. Now you may think a girl that likes all this stuff is not the norm and who knows what she must look like. To answer that question I am only 5' and about 110lbs, blue eyes and extreemly out going and attractive so I have been told at least once.

If this girl likes you she will like what you do and who you are. I do agree you need to be interested in her and the things she likes as well.
Common interest is good, also maker her feel special, complement her, open doors for her and get her imput on activities and things she would like to do or see.

It is like detecting in some ways, don't sweep to fast you might miss a good target along the way!!

Although you all make valid points about "dating punctuality," I was surprised that only coinshooter took my side by being upset about her tardiness. As I think I mentioned, I let her know right away that it made me upset when she called later than planned. She didn't say "I'm sorry" either when she showed up 15 minutes late--but better late than pregnant I guess (ROFL)! Maybe I am crazy for feeling this way about lateness, but my feelings won't change anytime soon--too stubborn or too right?


Everything else is super with Catie--she's hot, likes the same music as I do (Robbie Williams, Bon Jovi, etc), loves sports, and she even said DETECTING IS A NEAT HOBBY--YEAH! WE ALL ROCK HERE ON TREASURENET!


I do see your point about the virginity thing though. I need to get a life and stop being a nerd (like the ones in the 80s movies). I think "She's the one", even though she had sex with this guy Cameron when she was in high school. We're of age to consume alcoholic beverages, otherwise I wouldn't drink. Alcohol is overrated anyways (while detecting and baseball cards are underrated)
