I had got myself a BH Pioneer 505 off the local classifieds for $30. It came with the coil superglued to the shaft. I wasn't able to get the two separated with acetone, so I had to cut the shaft off and clean up the coil. But it gave me an excuse to build a folding shaft to make it more portable and compact for storage.

Here's an album of photos: BH Pioneer 505 Shaft Mod - Album on Imgur

I'm going to build a new enclosure for the electronics, too (probably from acrylic), to make it smaller.

Hey just for future reference, if acetone won't work on super glues try drops of MEK (methyl ethyl ketone) had that problem and it worked. Just be real careful not to get it where you don't want it, removes paint & melts plastic quicker than you can react.
