Hello everybody, I'm new to the detecting world.

I got a( I know it's old) Garrett GTA 350 for cheap, and it came with an extra coil from a gold bug2. The guy said I could get an adapter and put the gold bug coil on the machine. The plugs are same type just 1 is female, 1 is male.

I'm just wondering is this ok? Could it cause problems, or could it help the machine?

Thank you all!

I'm not sure how to add stuff to my other post, so I'll just make a new 1...
These are the connections if that matters at all

I'd suggest you contact the fine folks at Garrett to get your answer. Their phone # is 972-494-6151. They are open for business at 8:00 A.M. CST.

Thank you. I went ahead and called.
He said a pretty basic answer, I was hoping for more info on why, I guess I'll try to do research on coils and windings of said coils. Seems hard to find detector technical info.
U just said even if the connections work, the wires might not be carrying the same signals, and even if they did the detector probably won't work right.

A Fisher Coil on an old Garrett machine is a no go - period. My free advice is put both pieces of equipment up for sale or trade individually. Buy yourself the best NEW detector you can afford.

Thanks soloman...
Bummed i wasted money on it. The coil is broken, which explains y there was an extra that some1 hoped to swap.
Im just going to save for the detector I actually want... A gold bug 2. I dismantled the coil to see how it works. Kinda cool
