Is This A Meteorite?

I found this very strangely colored and extremely heavy "rock" while hunting Indian artifacts in Central Texas. It is very smooth and even feels like metal. I have been meaning to post a picture because I have purchased several meteorites in the past. (China and Russia.) They were not as rotund nor as large as the one I have found.

I would be very grateful for any advice or opinion. If I need more pictures please let me know. I had saved just this one when I originally photographed that group of rocks.

Thank you in advance for your time. This is starting to drive me crazy wondering what this strange little piece is called!!

from the picture, i'd guess botryoidal hematite, should give a red streak (rub on unglased porcelain or i use 400 grit wet/dry sand paper). not a meteorite. i always wondered what happened to Spın̈al Tap, rocker turned rock hound, nice!

The red streak was spot on! Thank you very much. As for the band we will be releasing our 42nd album next month. It is full of some real toe tappers! ;)

Cheers.
