    My newest find!

    Didn't actually find this one on the ground, was in a box of my grandfather stuff that had been put away since he died in 1979, the one next to it is silver. looks like at one time it might of been worn as a necklace.

    thought it was pretty cool, 52 grams

    Looks like the real thing. Have you sent it for authentication? 52 grams is a nice size for a one-of-a-kind meteorite.

    Until you get it authenticated by a reputable meteorite laboratory, it will not be worth anything except as a remembrance of your grandfather. Most people don't recognize meteorites with the stone in hand. It requires chemical and spectrographic analysis. That said, I think your grandfather found one.

    Did he by chance indicate where he may have found it?
