I think I'll agree with wvwildman on the hole thing.
But I am no meteor expert...

I wouldn't toss it just yet. Penetrating a roof takes inertia and if it's small and broke up higher in the atmosphere it might not hit hard. In strewn field theory the smaller pieces break off and as their smaller don't have the same energy. They fall to earth differently than the fire ball and the air has a greater affect on them. They loose velocity fast being small. Finding it in a gutter and magnetic w/ a crust sounds good. It might be time to make a window.
Terry S wrote about tiny meteorites ending up in rain gutters. Do you have access to a gram scale? How large is it in size.

Thx hvacker! Unfortunately they must have walked away. I had them in a small plastic bag & woke up they were gone. I searched 2 days around the house for them and nothing. Maybe they will walk back lol...

lol, roommates.... mine take my ice-cream luckily I don't have any meteorites for them to walk off with, I don't think it was one from the pics if that's any consolation for your loss, but I'm not an expert either.

Could be a Chondrite. Do you have a geology professor nearby? These are all meteorites found in Gold Basin, Arizona for comparison..

Nice find Terry S.!!!! When I travel west I plan to stop by the Meteor Crater outside Winslow. Maybe I'll get lucky in Mojave Desert lol...

I'm a roofer until I find a meteorite so if anyone needs any repairs from meteorites crashing into your house, let me know:thumbsup:

Apparently micro meteorites hitting roofs is extremely common. Clean out the gutters and test what's there. I'm going to do that one day soon.

In all seriousness, I don't think ill be complaining about cleaning out gutters ever again:hello2:...I can't recall if I've ever come across any rocks in gutters prior to my rock fascinations, though.
