SW Michigan; looking to be part of a weekend hunt

Anybody looking to get together over the upcoming weekend in April and do some detecting? I'm a busy student so don't really have time for joining a club, but don't like hunting alone. I'm just starting out in the hobby so wouldn't mind tagging alongside someone with more experience, especially when it comes to not breaking regulations. Perhaps can get more SW Michigan members on the forum in on this on a predetermined weekend and have an outing; the more the merrier.

Hey guys;
I am from the Portage area, near 131, minutes away from the city boundary of Kalamazoo. I could detect where anybody likes to detect, as long as its not just me by myself randomly settling on a spot that could be unsafe or on someones private property. Really new at this hobby, so I'm not that used to asking for permission and such and don't know what public areas I could hunt, so I would feel very privileged to learn the ropes from someone.
Mike, I'm also aware you're part of the club in Plainwell which I thought about joining, but couldn't due to class and work.
I can't this weekend, but on all weekends Friday-Sun until school ends Apr 25, I will be open. So how do you want to do this?

If the weather is good I hunter every day in SW Michigan. If the weather is bay I am researching.

I am about 30 miles or so from Hillsdale MI if someoe is close to this area they have a big fair ground that can be hunted, or is anyone has somewhere else with in 30 or 40 mile from Hillsdale I am willing to travel a hour or so to hunt. so lets here it where do you want to get together and hunt....Matt

If anyone would like to get together to hunt. I was thinking about HIllsdale MI fair ground. The fair ground is located south of ST Rt 12 on Rt 99. Lets say April 11 at noon to get together to hunt. I will be there hope to see you there....Matt

Did any of you guys do this? How did it go?

Drgest we didn't get to make the hunt on the fairgrounds this last
April. I did go to Hillsdale this last week end to a beach area and I found a 1965 Kennedy half with $1.70 in other clad. It was cold out and I did not get in the water. But I am hoping it warms up outside and I can get back and hunt the water in the next week or two. If you would like to tag along PM or email me and we can set a time on a week end. Plus I did not hunt all of the beach...Matt
