Honest coin appraisers in SE Michigan

Can anyone tell me of any reputable coin appraisers they deal with in SE Michigan? I am in Wyandotte, and inherited a pretty large coin collection. I would like to find out the value of the whole set but am afraid of being lowballed buy some of our local appraisers. If anyone has had good honest dealings with anyone I would like to hear from you.

My suggestion is do your research first. Find out what the key dates are for each of your sets and also do yourself a huge favor and buy The official Red Book. The Red book is a must for all coin collectors that sell coins. I would also hit a few different dealers and see which one offers the most. If all else fails you could always sell on ebay. The coins seem to sell for a lot more that they are worth on there. Not to mention you could follow suit with everyone else and charge $4.00 to ship a penny. Just my 2 cents. Good luck on recovering a nice price for your collection.

I have only dealt with 2 dealers in my area, Lansing, and I was buying.
Have to agree with MM, get a redbook, grade your own coins before selling. If you don't want to be bothered, you will probably be lowballed.

Whenever selling any coins, the most important fact in pricing is the condition of the coin. While we all like to think that our coins are the best, differences of opinion vary greatly. As stated earlier, do a little homework with the Blue and Red Books and if you can get your hands on a gray sheet ( dealers use it to see current trend values etc) you can get an idea of values. You can always show the coins to dealers and see what they rate them as far as condition. If you have something that you think is very valuable put it in an auction like DuMouchelle's in downtown Detroit and put a reserve on it, or have it appraised by one of the professional firms

    Good Luck
