Group hunt spring of 2010
I just wanted to throw a offer out there to see if I would actually get a list of interested people. Griff and I talked about a group hunt this spring....It'll give us a chance to meet some of the members and hit the woods or fields and do what we love... If you would be interested in a Saturday/Sunday two day hunt let me know. I have a few places in mind, but I am still new at this, so I will continue to do research and promise productive sites. I have a few hundred acres of State Land behind my house for tents and or campers...Let me know.

Lakes.....yup there is over 100 lakes within 20 miles of my house....some are more secluded state land lakes, but others look like Florida in the summer with beaches and bikini's....(meaning there may be RINGS) I will keep you posted for the dates!!

Re: Group hunt spring of 2010
is everyone ok with trying some field hunting? there are some good spots in the area that are farmed if we can get into before they plant. some have been farmed since the 1830's and some are old homesites. I've never done field hunting before, but have wanted to and would be ideal for a group hunt. at least give that a shot for one of the days, and maybe have something else lined up for the other. looking forward to it for sure.

Re: Group hunt spring of 2010
Yup...the one farm has been in operation since 1836, but the current farmers first relative settled on the farm in the late 1700's...this is what he told me. The farm had a blacksmith shop which was tore down in the early 50's, two houses, old area of the original cabin in the late 1700's, a old abandoned "grass lake road" that runs thru the farm. The road was turned since the dam broke causing the original "grass lake road" to be flooded...this actually runs right through the farm!!! The farm has about 600 acres of fields and has a ton of history....if that sounds good, then this can be day 1...Josh has some other homesites lined up for day 2

Re: Group hunt spring of 2010
Just an update on a little behind the scenes.....Griff and I have been doing alot of research and hope to have a very eventful 2 day hunt. We are "chomping at the bit" and promise this thing WILL NOT get canceled. Griff is much more experienced than I am, although I am learning pretty quicklly. Every day we seem to uncover another potential spot! This could be a revolving "spring tradition" and each year another member can host it!! I am looking forward to meeting all of you and cant wait! Just an update and get the dust blown off those detectors, its right around the corner!!!

Re: Group hunt spring of 2010
Man it's hard to get excited with tons of white crap on the ground, but I know that soon it will be gone, I WILL BE ARMED AND READY (with detector, of course). Last year's big hunt suddenly fizzled out, but if I know you guys, nothing will stop this one. Any kind of date set? or play by ear? ffd

Re: Group hunt spring of 2010
I checked the map and Grass Lake isn't too terribly far. I'm interested if there's still room. I'd probably only be able to make it for Sat. and it would depend on the date as I have some commitments already.

Re: Group hunt spring of 2010
plenty of room, and anyone who is gonna stay for the second day could just bring a tent and sleeping gear. we will probably set 2 tentative weekends, and then as it gets closer pick the one with the best weather. were going to pick some spots that could accommodate a large group or if its too big we can split and hit smaller spots. either way, its gonna happen. pm me or Craig if there are dates that do not work, out of the weekends in April. (besides Easter weekend)
