How would you pic a place along an old railroad?

So I found a square mile plus. It had a lot of track laid on it at one point.....like a loading zone for logging. The tracks are marked, but no structure. Looks like someone tried to bulldoze a golf course there, then defunct, it turned to state land.

Assuming there was work done here, and people......Where ya think should I go?

Man, that's awful flat land you got there. If you're after coins, you won't find any. If you're after iron and old tools, detect a few feet along side the tracks. The loggers would place their tools along side the tracks, ready to grab and work with.

kinda what i was thinkin, though you'd think there would be a place where more people gathered, more traffic.....and a bit more potenial

it is awful flat, aint it?.....must be why someone tried to make a golf course there
