    Colt 38 Auto

Could you please tell me what I have here. It is a Colt 38 auto, serial #18311, 7 1/2" length. It is marked "Browning's Patent" "Colt's Patent Arms Mfg. Co. Apr. 20, 1897 Sept 9 1902" on one side of the slide. On the other side of the slide it reads "Automatic Colt Calibre 38 Rimless Smokeless"

It looks better than the pictures took. Is this a Model 02, or 03? What value range would be your guess?

It's better to be thought a fool, then open your mouth and remove all doubt.
