    any ideas on this pin?

I'm catching up with my posts. On April 1st I found my 11th silver for the year a 1955 Rosie. Second silver out of a small park that I pass by getting to work. It's nice to find another place that has possibilities of silver.
Today I went out early during the light rain and found a ring. It looks sort of old. It got pretty beat up sitting in the ground for some years. The stones have some discoloration. I don't know if it is an adhesive that held the stone that is staining it or if it was the soil. It still is a fun find, I love finding jewelery.
The weather cleared and was perfect for afternoon hunt. I hit a spot that has some history to it. I've found old coins here before so I gave it another try. I came up with a 1886 Sharpshooter pin. It looks like it could be that old and the area could support a find like this.
I don't know if any of this info goes with this pin but it has possibilities. I looked up info on sharpshooters for 1886. I found some info that there were expert marksman that were recruited to work under the direction of Colonel Charles V. DeLand in Michigan in 1862. The men were moved to Fort Dearborn in Feb. 1863 to guard the U.S. arsenal. It might be a pin that was given to these men.

Re: any ideas on this pin?

The pin resembles US Army marksmanship badges but I can't find anything like it on the internet.

I suggest you post it in the "What is it?" forum. There of plenty of old military guys who might help you out.

    Good luck
