    Catch up thread (2) - 2010 finds

    Hi again all

Second of my catch up threads for you guys. All these finds are from this year. I have found more stuff and will try and post these up soon.

All the below are from old airbases and from around old barracks in England.

    Here we go.........

Lots of cartridges on this first visit but not much else !

This next visit was a better one with a very nice Gillette razor tin, and a fuel pressure gauge from a P38 instrument panel.

Some nice buckles and remains of toiletry tubes here. Also a kit bag lock that someone has twisted and snapped, and a couple of bits off a pair of binoculars.

The next trip was a really good one for the variation in finds I had. The spoon has a lovely RAF crest on the handle and next to it is the lens from a fish eye torch. The black AM piece is off the front of a pilots oxygen mask and is where the on/off switch for the mouthpiece mic was situated. The two gaskets are off Merlin engines and are exhaust stub gaskets.

This next visit was a little sparse for finds, with buckles being the most predominant. Did find a mess tin though dated 1940.

The next visit was not brilliant either with very little in the way of finds. An interesting 20mm with a 50cal jammed in the end was the most exciting find of the day.

Last two visit were good ones.

I was thinking the site was more or less empty but these proved it wasn't !

Lots of cartridges on this trip with a large number of 'cut throughs'

And lastly the visit where I found the relic watch.

You will also see a German dog tag and some nice toiletry tubes, along with the remains of a tea ration tin. Item far right middle is a 'Seigneur' lighter, circa 1930-40's.

    Hope you like the finds.

All the coins are dated 1943 or earlier but most are between 1937 and 1943.

    Cheers

PS What do you think is a barrel spigot ?
