    Purple heart metal

I found this Purple Heart (or what's left of it) in a park in Houston. No markings, on either side.

Hi! Old original post but it was bumped recently so...I just found a Purple Heart today in a place that's had a lot of military stuff! It's in way, way worse shape than Richard Ray's (and I don't have a camera so this lousy scan of the front will have to suffice; the back scan even awfuller so didn't include that).

One thing I found was that many of the medals have a number inscribed on the bottom rim, so Richard you may want to check that out. I can't find any way to search for that number to find who the recipient was (since the name wasn't inscribed) but maybe I didn't look hard enough. Mine is so corroded I can't tell if there's a number or not. Anyway, great find, and I was shocked to find one myself!

You lads have what we in SF like to call an "enemy marksmanship medal" I have two of them. (160th SOAR and Rangers.) I EARNED them...

Keep them as a solemn reminder of those who sacrificed so you don't have to...

If your first thought is "What is it worth", sell your detector and get a JOB.
Stop "American Digger" while you can still HUNT.
