    Spearhead or guidon?

I found this a few inches in the ground on the edge of a foxhole here in Germany. It is broken in a few places but the dimensions are: 4 1/4" (10.8 cm) long and 1 1/8" (2.7 cm) at its widest point. There are two holes on either side to secure it to a pole or stick. I personally think it's a guidon tip because of the porous metal it is made out of and it is somewhat light. But I do not know if WWII troops carried guidon‘s into battle either! But I’ll admit that I am not an expert in that field. A buddy of mine seems to think it's a spearhead but I just do not think so because as I've stated, the metal seems awfully brittle to be used in that manner. Any thoughts?

That would be the same guess I would give. Cool find.

I have asked several folks and most seem to think this item is made of copper. Possibly brass but I'm leaning towards copper too since it has the green patina. I've just never seen copper that was so porous!

The area I found this is near Bitburg, Germany.

I think it could be from a flag.... not stringent military. Maybe from a local gun club which are often found in rural areas in germany.
Bitburg....be careful out there! I know this area well!
