How long is the bayonet? It looks like a Confederate judging by the length.

It's about 19 1/4 inches long. I don't see any numbers or writing on it, but it is rusty, and I wasn't really sure if I should try cleaning it up or not. Does the length tell you anything about it? Here are some more pics of it.

I'm almost certain you have a bayonet for a model 1819 Hall. It's in really good condition. I would just oil it down and keep it dry. I'm doing electrolysis on some heavily corroded iron I dug last week and seems to work well. Here's a link if your interested.



Here's what I started with yesterday and they're still in bath. Will post finished parts tomorrow.

Snapshot of a model 1819 Hall online. There is a very rare Confederate bayonet that's 19" long, but it has a cast brass socket.
