Civil War Bayonet and other CW finds!

Found these at a Civil War battle Site back in the fall. Found the Bayonet, rifle butt plate, some shell fragments, bullets, musket tool, and some buckles. Had a good day that day! The property I was hunting on is now off limits. Sure wish I could go back!

Definitely a good hunt! It's too bad you are not allowed to go back because chances are you'll find quite a bit more.

How long is the bayonet? It looks like a Confederate judging by the length.

It's about 19 1/4 inches long. I don't see any numbers or writing on it, but it is rusty, and I wasn't really sure if I should try cleaning it up or not. Does the length tell you anything about it? Here are some more pics of it.

I'm almost certain you have a bayonet for a model 1819 Hall. It's in really good condition. I would just oil it down and keep it dry. I'm doing electrolysis on some heavily corroded iron I dug last week and seems to work well. Here's a link if your interested.
